Oxford Immune Algorithmics (OIA) is on a mission to revolutionize healthcare with its AI-powered platform, Algocyte. Designed to deliver personalized health insights, Algocyte makes precision health monitoring accessible and predictive medicine a reality. But turning this vision into a working platform required a fresh start and expert guidance.
Over the past 18 months, Thought&Function has worked with OIA to rebuild their systems, develop an intuitive mobile app, and create a seamless ecosystem for health monitoring. Together, we’ve laid the groundwork for their flagship product and future growth.
Challenge
OIA came to us with a bold goal: to empower people to monitor and optimize their health with an at-home blood testing device supported by an intelligent health platform. But their existing systems couldn’t scale to meet these needs.
Initially, we were asked to focus on rebuilding the backend—the foundation of their technology. As the collaboration deepened, we took on broader responsibilities, including creating a mobile app, modernizing the user-facing platform, and supporting the AI-driven scoring engine that powers Algocyte’s personalized insights.
The challenge was to deliver a reliable, scalable system that could support their vision for precision health while managing multiple project streams and maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Rebuilding the Foundation
We rebuilt the backend from the ground up, ensuring it could handle the complex demands of health data processing. By moving the infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), we set the stage for better scalability and cost efficiency.
Simplifying the Experience
We modernized the user-facing platform to ensure it was easy to navigate and scalable for future needs. The system now displays blood test results clearly and intuitively, empowering users to understand their health at a glance.
Empowering At-Home Testing
We developed a mobile app that connects via Bluetooth to OIA’s at-home blood testing device. The app is designed with users in mind, making it simple for anyone to complete tests at home and see their results seamlessly within the platform.
Introducing the Algocyte Score
The Algocyte Score, a personalized health index, is at the heart of the platform. By analyzing key health markers, it gives users an actionable way to track their well-being over time.
Ensuring Reliability
Healthcare technology demands precision and reliability. We implemented monitoring systems to catch and resolve issues quickly, ensuring the platform runs smoothly and meets the high standards expected in this industry.

Within 12 months, we delivered a functional MVP that allowed users to conduct blood tests at home and see their results on a web dashboard. This success set the foundation for Algocyte, which is now evolving into OIA’s flagship product.
